ITINERARY

Day 1 Broome – Fitzroy Crossing

(Valid from 01/04/2026)

BROOME

In Derby, the administrative capital of the West Kimberley with its tropical flair, we visit its main attraction with a dark past: the Prison Tree. In the hollow trunk of the ancient Boab tree, Aboriginal prisoners were once held. Today, the gnarled giant is protected, and out of respect for the place and its history, it should no longer be entered. We continue our journey at a leisurely pace along the Great Northern Highway towards Fitzroy Crossing, our destination for the day.

Accommodation: Fitzroy River Lodge, Fitzroy Crossing (Breakfast)

Day 2 Fitzroy Crossing – Kununurra

(Valid from 01/04/2026)

FITZROY CROSSING

Today’s journey begins with a visit to Geikie Gorge National Park. During a scenic boat cruise through the 14-kilometre-long and up to 30-metre-deep gorge, there’s a chance to spot freshwater crocodiles and admire the remnants of an ancient, uplifted coral reef.

We then continue on to Halls Creek, a town shaped by the gold rush of 1885. A short detour down a dusty track takes us to the remarkable China Wall – a natural, vertical formation of white quartz up to 5 metres high, formed by erosion and not by human hands.

Following the Great Northern Highway, the journey continues between the Durack and Carr Boyd Ranges toward our destination for the day: Kununurra.

Accommodation: Kununurra Country Club Resort, Kununurra (Breakfast)

Day 3 El Questro & Wyndham

(Valid from 01/04/2026)

KUNUNURRA 1

Early in the morning, we set off for El Questro Wilderness Park, where a short walk leads us to one of the area’s many spectacular gorges.

Continuing along the Great Northern Highway, between the Durack and Carr Boyd Ranges, we head toward Wyndham, the northernmost town in Western Australia. Here, the Five Rivers Lookout offers breathtaking views over the Ord, Forrest, King, Durack, and Pentecost Rivers, the Cambridge Gulf, and the surrounding mangrove swamps and tidal flats.

Depending on the season, we may visit Marglu Billabong in the Parry Lagoons Nature Reserve—a vital bird sanctuary home to over 20,000 birds.

Later, we stop at The Grotto, a hidden swimming hole at the base of a short but picturesque gorge. Enclosed by steep rock walls, the pool is fed by a 15-metre waterfall during the wet season.

We then return to Kununurra for the night.

Accommodation: Kununurra Country Club Resort, Kununurra (Breakfast)

Day 4 Ord River Cruise

KUNUNURRA 1

Around midday, we’ll be picked up from the hotel and driven by bus to Lake Argyle. At the historic Durack Homestead Museum—a replica built using original stones from the family’s homestead—we’ll take a short break. From a nearby lookout, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the vast Lake Argyle. The 55 km boat journey back to Kununurra offers spectacular scenery and the chance to observe the region’s diverse plant and animal life. As the cruise comes to an end, we’ll be treated to a vibrant sunset, before returning to the hotel.

Accommodation: Kununurra Country Club Resort, Kununurra (Breakfast)

Day 5 Bungle Bungle Scenic Flight

BUNGLE BUNGLES

Today’s excursion promises an unforgettable experience. You’ll have the chance to witness the stunning Bungle Bungle rock formations both from the air and on foot. A scenic flight offers spectacular views of Lake Argyle, the Carr Boyd Range, and vast cattle stations. As you approach for landing, a magical sandstone landscape unfolds beneath you. Traveling by 4WD and on foot, you’ll make your way through towering domes and strange rock shapes to reach the awe-inspiring Cathedral Gorge. During a picnic break, take in the natural rock formations that resemble giant beehives. On the return flight, you’ll enjoy aerial views of the Argyle Diamond Mine and the rugged Osmand Range. A truly unforgettable day.

Accommodation: Kununurra Country Club Resort, Kununurra (Breakfast / Lunch)

Day 6 Kununurra – Katherine

KUNUNURRA

Today we say goodbye to Kununurra and Western Australia. Soon after, we will pass the border to the Northern Territory. Leisurely drive along Victoria Highway to Katherine.

Accommodation: Knotts Crossing Resort, Katherine (Breakfast)

Day 7 Katherine – Cooinda (Kakadu Nationalpark)

COOINDA KAKADU1

After breakfast, we start today’s touring day with a 2-hour cruise through the spectacular Katherine Gorge. A wonderful experience with beautiful views and the opportunity to admire Aboriginal rock art. Via Kakadu Highway, we finally get into Kakadu National Park. Nourlangie Rock, a site of impressive Aboriginal galleries, presents a mix of up to 20,000-year old rock art.

Accommodation: Gagudju Lodge Cooinda, Yellow Water (Breakfast)

Day 8 Cooinda (Kakadu Nationalpark) – Darwin

DARWIN

An impressive boat cruise in Yellow Waters will give you the rare opportunity of viewing the many varieties of wildlife in their natural habitat. As this area is a beloved resting ground during the dry season, you will be both amazed and delighted to see such an abundance of bird types and observe crocodiles within such a close range. At Ubirr Rock – in the heart of the Kakadu National Park – you will find enough time today to wonder and gaze in caves and at rocks of Aboriginal rock art (the world’s oldest art gallery), and also to enjoy a wonderful panoramic view over Kakadu Park. A further stop in the Mamukala Wetlands will allow us to observe thousands of magpie-geese, a fantastic World Heritage Protected area of UNESCO. We reach Darwin in the evening where your unforgettable tour ends at your pre-booked accommodation.
